Can't say fairer than that. Go in to keep the original filter system or cut it out?

The juwel filters are way to noisy ,too awkward to clean and take up to much tank space. It was only when I got home that I realised there was a full 3d background in the tank as well that he never mentioned lol.

Had to put back in the stock juwel filter today as the external I planned on using started to leak. Ah well.

You could always go the DIY route... make a good overhead sump system.

Here are two links. the first is Miamiheat's system which works on air uplift. It needs a powerful airpump though, as far as I know. The second is my setup, running off a pump. Very easy to maintain, very efficient and it can be planted too.

I should add that Stephane (Miaimiheat) has told me he feeds his discus beefheart (and very generously) and the uplift system has his tank cleared in no time.

Cheers for that Lj but can you go into a little bit more detail about how it's put together and what would be needed.
Cheers Stuart.
