I'd say at a guess the dojo loach is taking the slime coat from your goldfish, more annoying than doing any harm. Dojo are great little fish, real character.

Soon your goldfish will outgrow the loach by a long way, so I'd keep the loach and even add 3 or 4 more once they are the same size.

In 6 months time your goldfish will be 8 inches and the loach still 4. If you're concerned about the goldfish then you can always rehome the loach.

I hope you don't mind me asking but how many goldfish do you have and how many liters?

Also, if you really want to keep this fish but are concerned, why don't you add loads decoration? Like fake/live plants, caves, arches..... basically anything that will help the goldfish to hide.

Fancy goldfish can grow up to 8 inches but it will of course be slowly and the rate will depend on water parameters, quality food and water temperature. As far as I am aware, they grow quicker in warmer water.

What type of fancy goldfish? Are we talking Orandas or goldfish with long fins? Obviously, shorter finned, sleeker bodied fish won't get quite so irritated as they can swim faster.
