Hello :) ,

I recently acquired a Musk turtle from the local pet store . He is very active , eating well and settling in nicely . I have a rock where he can climb and he pops his head out of the water .

His skin seems to be a little flakey / Peeling . Just noticed it today . Completed water changes every 7 days and temp is at 26 degrees .

Any turtle experts have any advice for me in giving this little guy a perfect home and as to why his skin is flakey ?

Much appreciated :)

It's a healthy sign, they need to shed skin to grow

Ah ok I didn't know that thank you . Do they need a heat lamp for basking ? Guy at pet store said they are fully aquatic
