Anyone evernhad to move house and completely drain and refill their large aquarium?
Lets just say theres alot more to it than I thought!!!
I took out the fish and bagged them up, all decoration out, emptied the water (filled a 210 litre water butt and dumped the remaining 140ish litres) and thought 'sure we will stick the tank on the truck and get it all shifted easy as pie!!!
Forgot the tank needed to be on its side to get thru the door so had to abandon the tank and go get buckets to remove the substrate!
Realised before I left to go to the new house where everything was that my larger plecs had both burst their bags (no bags left) had no choice only to put them into the water butt!
Headed over to new house got buckets left off fish and water butt etc and went back for tank
Long story short between problems and faffing around looking for things people had packed away on me, took 4 hrs from emptying to refilling

Eventually started putting fish back in and realised I had a casualty, 1 of my fire mouths was looking ill and was up side down struggling like mad!

Decided to give him a chance and left him in a net at the top of the water, seemed to be coming round no bother so left hom there
Next thing I know net and fish nowhere to be seen at top of tank!!!! Net must have slipped and fallen in

Looking round the tank I see one of my flippin cray fish (lobsters) trying to bring the fiah off for dinner..... no tail left half a fin or 2 missing etc

Bloody gutted that he wasnt given more of a chance to recover
He was doing sooooo well!!!!

Ah, the joys of moving...

I remember it well.

I assume your Firemouth is no more now?

Sorry to hear that pal on the plus side its still only one casualty so dont stress to much, moving is stressful enough without beating yourself up about it

That was unfortunate, especially when your doing your best to deal with
unforeseen problems.

I had to put the poor fish out of its misery
So yea it is no more!!!!!
To be honest that was the most stressful part f the whole moving process
Still have my sons tank to move but thats only small so should be fairly handy!!!!

I think 1 casualty was not bad going in all honesty, could have been alot worse i guess

It really does take a shite load of planning. Did it once and also commissioned and decommissioned another tank at a later stage - found both stressful myself never mind for the fish:) awful to lose a fish but it could have been a lot worse Hammie so give yourself a pat on the back...

Try moving 2 x 720 litre tanks 6 x 150 litre, 6 x 60 litre in a day and all the fish and get to me :-)
That was a day of madness and big headaches he he :-)
I know the pain it is he he :-)
Not to mention you ever try and move 30 5 to 6 inch piranhas , 6 nets later we got there and a few bits of missing skin on my finger :-) Now that was fun he he :-)

Bloody hell Cheech......

That is all..... I dont think I can say any more lol
It was the fact that I must have not set the net in a stable enough spot that annoyed me more I think
Im fairly certain with a bit of time the fire mouth would probably have come round again!!!!
