Hi all,

Just seeing what freshwater test kits you all use as I am in the market to buy one now.

Api or jbl or there is probably a lot more out there.

Does anyone have the jbl test lab? Worth the money?

Cheers,

Simon.

Hi

I was using the API kit, it was the only one available locally and did the trick.

I now have the Sera test kit and I'm very impressed with the quality of the test vials and the amount of different tests that are included for about €5 more than the API. Maybe not as many of each test as the API but it has much better variety.

I have the API master kit and sometimes you get color shades so similar that you don't know which is the reading, specially with Nitrates an Low range PH. Also there are some test missing like for example Cu, KH, GH..

I think next time I'll go for a JBL one.

Ive switched from api to sera test kits. My big tank is run on organic aqua so I dont test it. To be honest I rearly test my tanks, with experience a keeper can tell alot just be watching the fish.

Where do you get the Sera test kits? The only ones I can find are on Amazon for 126 sterling. I use API master kit.

Cheers for the replies!

I'm stuck between the jbl and sera and both are around the same price on the bay.

Anyone know where I can get the sera test kit in ireland?

Thanks!

Just called them! They only have the api.

Just wondering about the jbl test kits, there are 2 different sets around the 50 euro price with different tests in each can only recommend what is better?

One has, ph, kh, fe, no2, no3 and co2 table

Other has, ph, kh, no2, no3, nh4/nh3 and co2 table.

Will be mainly for planted tanks.

Thanks.

I went with the sera test kit. Had to order online. Thought I'd try something different see how it goes.

After receiving my kit and doing 2 tests i'm really happy with the kit. Case is very well made and the vials are very good too and there are 9 tests. i've attached 2 pics. Got it for a pretty good price too.
